Workplace Communication: COVID Focus - Return to Work & What to Communicate

“You never know when a moment and a few sincere words can have an impact on a life” ~ Zig Ziglar

As we enter yet another phase of this post-pandemic era, employers are hit with a new wave of best practice considerations and possible legal implications. The most frequent question on every business owner’s mind today is “what Covid-related policies should continue to be in place (if any) and what is the best way to communicate them to our employees and customers.”

Leaders in all industries and in every organization must continue to have sound and thoughtful strategies in place regarding things like: will remote work arrangements remain in-tact and to what extent; how will we handle vaccinations, and will we have different rules applying to non-vaccinated workers and customers; should we require proof of vaccine to attend in-person gatherings; is it necessary to continue to wear masks, take temperatures, social distance, and disinfect, Etc.?

Once an employer’s post-pandemic policies are established, it will be critical to plan your communication strategy – making sure all are aware and understand the rationale behind the policies and that the way you communicate does not inadvertently cause adverse consequences, e.g., employees or customers becoming annoyed or outright offended, feeling ostracized or, worse, believing they have been treated unfairly (spurring claims of discrimination and retaliation).

It’s imperative that employers plan ahead and take precautions in this post-pandemic time. Join us on June 9th for our most riveting conversation yet on communication strategies that will protect your business, preserve your reputation and proactively address these challenges!
